Job Description

Position: Senior Legal Officer ( Independent Consultant)

Location: Kandy

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all aspects of company secretariat duties, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Handle intellectual property registrations, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
• Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of commercial law matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities as required.
• Stay abreast of changes in legislation and ensure the company’s policies and procedures remain compliant.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making processes.
• Mentor and guide junior legal staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Qualifications:

• Law degree (LL.B or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 06+ years of experience in a legal role, with a focus on company secretariat work and intellectual property registrations.
• Solid knowledge of commercial law and its practical application.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with a proven track record of effective collaboration across departments.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

• Advanced degree or certification in commercial law or a related field.
