Job Description

Code / Job title / Reporting to:

Project Manager reporting to Senior Project Portfolio Manager

Job purpose:

To manage the implementation of a Borders system in Sri Lanka. As the in-country Project Manager, this role is a primary point of contact for the Government customer.

Key-result areas:

  1. Plan and execute the end-to-end project by managing the project team, suppliers, and customer dependencies across various workstreams.
  2. Perform project management tasks such as planning, tracking tasks against schedule, managing project budget, conducting team meetings, reporting, resolving issues and risks, change control, and obtaining sign-offs from relevant parties.
  3. Act as the primary local contact for the customer and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and follow-up.
  4. Follow project governance policies in terms of internal reporting and financial management.

  • Support functions such as Procurement and Finance

Outside the Organization:

  • Customer and related government departments
  • Suppliers within and outside of Sri Lanka
  • Airlines flying to Sri Lanka and related industry organizations

Decision-making authority:

Within project governance policies

Staff / Budget managed:

  • No direct reports
  • Responsible for Project budget (cost and revenue)

Education and training:

  • Computing or business-related degree
  • PMP certified or extensive evidence of proficiency in Project Management principles, methods, techniques, and tools

Knowledge, skills, and experience required:

  • Excellent written and spoken English and local language
  • Project management competencies, especially schedule and financial management, change control
  • Ability to form relationships with customers and stakeholders
  • Clear and meaningful communication and presentation skills

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience of managing similar software implementation projects, covering the full project life cycle, to time and budget.
  • Experience in projects with the Sri Lanka Government as a customer is preferred.
