Job Description

Imports Coordinator has to handle the daily Imports & logistics duties of the organization. Also, the applicant must be able to operate independently and under Pressure. Should be able to cope with Sudden and Variable Situations which could arise amidst the normal course of work. The applicant should be capable of implementing knowledge gathered through experience and professional qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for sourcing and procurement for import requirements.
• Ensure the samples and prices are prepared within the agreed timelines and required quality.
• Coordinating import order deliveries to the warehouses and ensure the timelines are met.
• Coordinate with suppliers and obtain and negotiate prices for imported materials.
• Attend to regulatory clearances on imports liaising with authorities such as, Import Control and SL customs etc.
• Forward advance shipping documents to the clearing agents and follow up for draft custom documents.
• Arrange import duty payments coordinating with accounts department.
• Should be able to handle all foreign correspondence and should have a fair knowledge of LCs, TTs, DP, DA terms and clearing process.
• Arrangements of payments for foreign suppliers and maintaining records.
• Tracking shipments while coordinating with freight forwarders & clearing agents.
• Obtaining insurance for imports from insurance companies.
• Handling inquiries from sales department.

Qualifications

• Professional Qualification in Supply chain management / Logistics.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar capacity.
• Good knowledge of International Trade, shipping freight and payment terms.
• Familiar with MS office Package and should possess good E-mail literacy.
• Fluent communication skills both oral & written in English and Sinhala.
• Strong analytical & Organizing skills.
• Ability to work independently under minimum supervision.
• Should have the ability to work under pressure, must be efficient.
• Preference will be given to candidates who are residing close to the Moratuwa area.
