Job Description
We are looking for an energetic Electrical and Automation Engineer to support our Engineering team. The individual will proactively identify and implement projects and opportunities that minimize the need for reactive maintenance interventions to reduce maintenance costs, enhance production efficiency, and improve production output. The role involves managing and optimizing all utilities to ensure their safe and efficient operation. Additionally, this role is responsible for controlling, developing, maintaining, and improving the hardware and software of the site’s control systems, including instrumentation.
What you would be doing:
- Identify and implement opportunities for improving electrical assets and develop preventive maintenance activities for individual plant assets.
- Conduct asset failure analysis, facilitate and mentor asset-related problem-solving, and manage corrective actions to ensure deliverables are met.
- Energy management by implementing energy-efficient solutions to reduce overall energy consumption.
- Monitor and optimize electrical power distribution. Utilize tools such as power analyzers, SCADA systems, and fuel monitoring systems.
- Manage projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant implementation, meeting the expectations of Fonterra Asset Care principles.
- Collaborate with Managers, Operators, and Maintenance Personnel to eliminate/improve current Automation System faults, bugs and limitations.
- Manage the programming and validation of software, software changes and control systems concerning engineering and process requirements.
- Enhance plant performance and reliability through the optimization of the Automation System.
- Scope out and implement automation projects with assistance from contractors as needed.
- Develop relevant documentation and controls for all software changes for current and future requirements.
- Administer all Automation System operating software and hardware to ensure that equipment and plant are fully serviceable.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures for the Automation System (operations, backup, and access).
- Implement and manage policies and procedures for the Automation System.
- Communicate Automation System changes to Management, maintenance personnel and operators as appropriate.
- Develop strategies for all Automation Systems and instrumentation replacements.
- Provide site support for critical faults and failures.
Here’s what we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering, Master’s Degree in Operations Management, Engineering or Business Management will be an added advantage
- In-depth understanding of Project/Operation and Maintenance management processes.
- 5-7 years of experience in similar capacity preferably in a manufacturing organization.
- Proven track records in Automation Engineering Project Management initiatives in a larger scale organization.
- Expert knowledge and hands on experience in Electrical and Automation Engineering.
- Proficient knowledge of Instrumentation & CAD.
- Proficient knowledge of Industrial boilers, Air handling, Power generators, Chillers, Power electrical systems and other manufacturing plant utilities.
- Excellent skills in stakeholder and relationship management.
- Strong leadership capability
- Experience in developing employee training programs, coaching and knowledge/capability development initiatives.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Self-driven mentality with high level of critical thinking, problem-solving and project management skills.
- Strong communication skills in both English & Sinhala.
