Job Description

Key Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Coordinator to join our team with a Tier 1 Mining operator on a FIFO contract role in Papua New Guinea. This role is crucial in providing technical expertise and coordinating the alignment of maintenance activities and strategy with the production plan for the workshop—rebuild and fixed cranes & compressors—through the Planning Department. Here are some key responsibilities and requirements for the position:

  • Provide technical input into the development of the maintenance plan, scoping support for more complex work, input to long-term planning/smart shutdowns, and ensure procedures used by technicians are fit for purpose.
  • Coordinate external contractor/OEM support for annual inspections, testing, calibration, etc.
  • Coordinate Maintenance Operational Readiness work for the section.
  • Stay abreast of the current state of equipment and plant defects, including conducting QA/QC audits on completed work.
  • Lead or participate in critical RCAs as nominated by the Superintendent.
  • Initiate and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the safe performance of the process plant operation through rate increase and cost reduction.
  • Monitor inventory of spares to ensure overhauls, rebuilds, and emergency maintenance meet plant requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Mechanical Trade Certificate (essential)
  • Tertiary qualification (advantageous)
  • Advanced use of various company and departmental systems, including SAP, Optimum, etc.
  • Good understanding of formal project management skills, practices, and methodologies.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience (essential)
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance of large process plants, including planning and executing.
