Job Description
Transformation has resulted in changes in skills requirements, roles, and numbers of roles required in the new operating model. The roles in the new operating model will be restricted to employees in the selection pool in the first instance. Selection for any jobs that remain unfilled following the agreed selection process will be conducted in line with the Global Recruitment policy.
Role Purpose
To provide technical sector support to the English Programmes portfolio of contracts and programmes. And, to contribute to business development and quality, compliant delivery of programmes and contracts to improve standards of the teaching, learning and assessment of English.
Main Accountabilities
Sector/subject expertise
- Provide first-line advice and guidance on English language teaching, learning and assessment, identifying practical solutions.
- Coordinate and contribute to the development of training materials, including audio-visual and print materials, to meet trainee needs and project objectives.
- Proactively maintain a sound working knowledge of developments in external policy, practice and regulation within the English language teaching/learning sector to build credibility, confidence and business insight.
Consultancy, analysis and problem solving
- Supporting the collation and analysis of monitoring and evaluation data and writing / reviewing first drafts of project reports.
Service improvement
- Undertake additional research, reporting or project implementation tasks, as required, to support the effective development and delivery of services by the wider English Programmes team.
Business Development
- Supports the identification and development of professional networks, relationships and partnerships to increase the British Council’s impact and reputation.
- Ensures high quality and accurate pipeline data for country/pillar.
- Conducts specific pipeline and partner/competitor analysis to contribute to business development planning and prioritisation.
- Provides support with development of new business proposals, ensuring that internal and external professional standards are met.
Role Requirements
- Graduate degree (any subject) is essential. Postgraduate qualification in related field and/or Diploma ELT (TEFL-Q), is desireable.
- English teaching qualification is essential. Management training preferably in Education or ELT sector, is desireable.
- Experience delivering teacher development projects is essential. Knowledge of teacher education in the public/government sector, is desireable.
- Experience teaching post-certification is essential. Experience/qualifications in online teaching/teacher development, is desireable.
- Experience of writing materials including for print, audiovisual and online.
- English speaker at CEFR C1 level or higher.
