Job Description

We’re a leading recruitment company in Sri Lanka and looking for a Senior Manager of Health and Safety for a well-reputed Apparel company based in Colombo. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive health and safety programs. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive a culture of safety across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
• Lead and manage a team of health and safety professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure effective implementation of safety initiatives.
• Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees at all levels.
• Investigate and report on incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate health and safety considerations into operational processes.
• Monitor and analyze health and safety metrics, preparing reports for senior management and regulatory agencies.
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in health and safety.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in health and safety management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHAS and other relevant regulations and standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, driving performance and achieving goals.
